This Term our focus remains on farming practices across a broad scope of topics from planting with the seasons to biodiversity. Children will get plenty of hands on experience as we explore The Farm, tend to the animals and upkeep our own small garden plot as well as participating in craft projects, creating some treasured items to take home.

The kids become mini farmers and after a detailed tour get set to work doing farm chores. We collect eggs, restock our pet chickens bedding, ensure they have fresh water and clean out the coup. We work on our dedicated Farm Kids garden plot and tend to our onsite worm Subpod. If the opportunity arises, we assist the farmers with their chores. They forage, cook, make natural products, create and see where their food comes from as well as experience countless opportunities to learn about teamwork, community, and ethical farming practices.

We start the workshop with an educational, hands on and fun tour of The Farm where we specifically search for and focus our discussion on Bees. We talk about the importance of bees, different species, job roles, honey, wax and the dynamics of a busy working hive. In craft we make beeswax candles and lip balm and in cooking we make honey popcorn.

We start the workshop with an educational and fun tour of The Farm focussing in on our animals particularly our Chickens. We sensitively discuss animal (chicken) welfare and healthy farming and egg production. We make honey piklets with fresh eggs and honey from the farm and use the eggshells from cooking to create egg people with watercress hair.
